As Omar from Hit The Lights said during their earlier set, if it wasn't for New Found Glory all of the bands playing that night would probably not be bands right now and he really wasn't exaggerating. There is no question that New Found Glory are the long reigning Kings of pop-punk and Friday's show at the O2 Academy in Bournemouth proves exactly why that is.
2010 marks the tenth anniversary of their Self-Titled album (10 years, can you believe it?!) so while the hour and a quarter set focuses heavily on tracks from the classic album it also showcases a perfect cross section from the past decade. Kicking off with 'Hit or Miss', it's easy to see why they've stayed so long in the game.
With so many bands passing across the pop-punk peripheral these days with bands' constant line up changes and hiatuses, New Found Glory set themselves apart from that and have held their own for over a decade now - their songs like 'Dressed to Kill' and 'Better Off Dead' sound just as fresh as they did in 2000. Chad Gilbert (guitar) took the opportunity in between songs to thank those who've been there from the start in an emotional speech and promised that no matter what, New Found Glory will always be there for them too.
Newer songs, 'Don't Let Her Pull You Down' and 'Listen To Your Friends' will continue to win over new fans of all ages whilst still holding the hearts of their dedicated fans. Powering their way through a selection of songs from their impressive back-catalog and watching the hugely diverse crowd lap it up confirms that if they continue the way they have there's no doubt they'll still be rocking out across the world in another ten years.
