Phantom City

Talk to Phantom City for any amount of time and you'll soon notice they're a energetic and enthusiastic bunch - not to mention ambitious!

Vocalist-guitarist William Ide notes that by 2015 they'd like to get picked up by either No Sleep Records or Run For Cover, embark on a full US tour, release a full length CD, tour with Blink 182 and New Found Glory and they'd love to have actor Neil Patrick Harris guest vocal on a song with them - looks like they have a busy few years ahead!

The band draw heavily upon the lad's love of pop-punk, citing New Found Glory, Sum 41 and MxPx as strong influences. So, as you can imagine, playing with Mike Herrera's (MxPx) Tumbledown last month was a big moment for the Olympia, Washington pop-punk outfit. Will says "it was so awesome, he's such a hero for me".

Formed in September 2009, Phantom City have already a lot of experience under their belts and followed up the Tumbledown gig with a recent show with Late Nite Wars ("easily my favourite band I've ever played with" remarks Will). The three-piece - rounded out by Dylan Murray on bass/vocals and drummer Todd James Luque - are set to do a full west coast tour with Tear The Place Apart this August and hope to get over to play some east coast shows sometime in the future.

So, what sets them apart from other pop-punk acts? With an age range of an impressive thirteen years, Phantom City certainly have an interesting dynamic! Eighteen year old Will says of having Todd (33) in the band, "he doesn't listen to a lot of the newer pop-punk like we do so it creates an interesting musical mix".

Phantom City are passionate about many things (including comics, Selena Gomez and the afore mentioned Neil Patrick Harris!) but they especially love vinyl & it just so happens that the band have just finished recording some new songs for an up-coming 7" called 'On A Ghost Hunt'. It's being released through Knock Off Records and will hopefully be available to buy at the east coast shows (as well as being available digitally).

Head on over to Phantom City's Myspace for further information on their upcoming shows and to download their EP.
